The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce is pleased to host the 35th Annual Sandcastle Contest on Saturday, August 3, 2013. Over 100 teams and 800+ participants are expected to express their artistic flair. Past creations have included Swamp Animals, Mermaids, Pyramids, Crabs, Dolphins, Sharks and of course traditional sandcastles. Beachgoers who would rather watch than work are welcome to view the incredible creations free of charge. The Sandcastle Contest takes place at Fisherman’s Beach located at the North end of the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk. Registration begins at 8:30 AM and judging begins at 3:00 PM. Awards will be announced approximately at 5:00 PM. Want “S’MORE” fun?  Bring your family, beach chair and some marshmallows to the beach at Dagsworthy St. in Dewey on Wednesdays for a bonfire!  Bonfires will be held every Wednesday from 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM, June 19th through August 28th.   PARKING – All metered parking remains in effect; non-metered spaces are FREE Monday-Wednesday after 5:00 PM. These events are WEATHER DEPENDENT.  In event of inclement weather, cancellations will be determined no later than 6:00 PM on day of event. Any cancellation will be announced on the Radio Station, WGMD 92.7 (945-2050).  Notice of cancellation will also be posted at the Dewey Beach Life Saving Station Bulletin Board.  If weather is clear events will take place as scheduled, but may ended at any time during due to weather conditions.

Champion the lung cancer cause by registering today for the fourth annual Free to Breathe Delmarva 5K run/walk and 1-mile walk on Aug. 11 at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, Del. The inspirational event will bring the community together to raise funds that will fuel groundbreaking research necessary for making the dramatic breakthroughs in early detection and treatment that can save lives.
