Reminiscent of an old-time midway park with rides on blacktop paving, TRIMPER'S offers rides, games and concessions. It is a delightfully traditional park, and one to which the family owners are continually adding and improving. There are both indoor and outdoor rides, the latter opening weekends as early as April, with all rides in place before June.

      TRIMPER'S most popular outdoor ride is the famous Boomerang and Loop Roller Coaster, "The Tidal Wave," but others get their share of ridership, too, such as the Tilt-a-Whirl, Himalaya and ever-thrilling ferris wheels. Indoors are the bumper cars, where, younger children can also enjoy airplane and motorcycle rides and a kiddie carousel.

      This tiny tot merry-go-round is housed in the same building as the Trimper family's "heirloom" ride: a fully restored Herschell-Spillman carousel. Bought by a Trimper family member in 1902 the carousel remains in use and is one of the oldest in continuing operating in the United States. This carousel contains 45 hand-carved wooden animals, three chariots, and one rocking chair. Most of the animals are prancing horses, but others include a lion, long-necked giraffe, frog, chicken, ostrich, pig, tiger, zebra, camel, antlered deer, a billy goat, a dog and a dragon.

      Prices, safety, cleanliness and the friendly, helpful attitude of personnel at TRIMPER'S RIDES all get credited for the park's continuing success at drawing crowds. Plus every year or so something new gets added -- such as the recent additions of the Inverter, Slingshot, the Rockin' Tug and the colorful bumper boats. (Nearly 50 rides are in the park.)

      TRIMPER'S RIDES are easy to find, since they are on the Boardwalk at the southernmost tip of Ocean City. The only thing between them and the ocean-going Inlet include a restaurant and a cafe, the VILLAGE INLET SHOPPES, and the Inlet Lodge, coffeeshop and lounge. One block north is MARTY'S PLAYLAND ARCADE, which is a year round amusement area featuring over 250 games that include electronic, skill video, pinball, and photo machines.

      When you visit Ocean City, Maryland, be sure to stop at The Carousel Shop at its 708 S. Atlantic Avenue (Boardwalk) location. On sale are collector's limited edition hand-carved copies from Trimper's 1902 antique carousel. The first copy from the carousel, "The Rose Horse" is available as an unlimited replica. The collection has expanded with limited horses such as "Thunder Cloud", "Forever Joanne", "Black Magic", and "Liberty Belle". In recent years we have released other animals such as the giraffe "Longfellow", the lion "Daniel", and the goat "Tillie's Billie", the "Frog Jeremiah", and our most recent addition - "Boots The Cat."
